This work was developed during my time as an exchange student in Gothenburg, Sweden. 

My artistic process consistently involves collecting images, texts, feelings, and performances from my surroundings, then recombining and reinterpreting them to create a visual device that brings my imaginative inner world into reality.

For this piece, I collected ingredients from the red-painted Falu cottages with white window frames found in the Swedish countryside, the dense forests of Northern Europe, and the Swedish traditional ballad Herr Mannelig (“Sir Mannelig”). When the doors are opened, the full lyrics of the song written in white paint are displayed in Swedish. The song tells the story of a mountain troll who makes various promises to a Christian man and proposes marriage, only to be rejected at the end because the troll is not Christian.

When installed in Vänersborgs Konsthall, viewers were allowed to interact with the work. The act of opening the doors was intended to feel like a ritual, akin to opening a book cover or a window, that transports the viewer into another world.

 나는 주변에서 본 것, 글, 느낀 것, 공연 등에서 이미지, 생각, 감정, 상징을 수집, 재해석하고 한 화면에 배치한다. 작업은 나의 환상적 내면세계, 개인적 신화를 현실에 시각화하는 장치로 작용한다.

 이 작업에서는 스웨덴 시골에서 보이는 Falu red 오두막들의 붉은 색과 흰 창틀, 북유럽의 짙은 숲, 그리고 스웨덴 전통 발라드 ‘Herr Mannelig’ (멘델리그 경) 등을 수집하고 조합했다. 

문을 열면 양쪽에 노래의 전체 가사가 스웨덴어로 적혀있다. 노래는 돌림노래 형식으로, 마운틴 트롤이 크리스천 남자에게 이것저것 약속하며 청혼하지만 마지막에 크리스천 남자는 트롤이 크리스천이 아니라는 이유로 청혼을 거절하는 내용이다. 

작품은 인터렉션이 가능하도록 했다. 관객이 문을 여는 행위가 책 표지를 여는 행위, 혹은 창문을 여는 행위처럼 다른 세계를 통하는 의식으로 느끼게 하기 위함이었다.
